...and we're back!

So, here we are again. The Cultural Drinking Tour v2 is kinda live. Shamed into it by Premier Steve who did a very good blog of a recent trip to New York (despite Trump being in power): https://nycgreatagain.blogspot.com/

What's going to appear here? Mostly Lee, the Cows, and I on holidays. That will also imply a lot of cruise ships. Expect pictures of food, drinks, the Cows, oceans, sunrises and sunsets (if you've ever wondered why cruising is a good holiday, wait till you see the sun on the horizon!), restaurants, waiters, airport lounges, food, drink, and food and booze.

So as a starter for 10 to kick this whole thing off, yesterday was lunch at Pulpo Negro in Alresford https://www.pulponegro.co.uk/ an absolutely fabulous restaurant that can't work out if it wants to be extremely nice tapas, or a fabulous steak restaurant. The fact that it is both makes me very happy!

A short tapas menu with some permanent residents, with a few guests from time to time. The "pregnant bread" is superb.

Seating both up and downstairs. Downstairs is very special. The artwork on the walls. The number of times I have stolen all of it...

Anyway. Food. There is a blackboard with the steaks. It is a menu. Different cuts from different cows. Ex-dairy is a fabulous idea, but each steak available on the day is on the menu with the weight of that steak. Biggest one I saw yesterday was a 2.4kg... not a typo... bone in ribeye. I settled for a 404g ex-dairy ribeye. Truly I am a wimp! Oh, man! They know how to cook a steak. If you have no problem with meat that is on the rare end, just let them cook it to where they think it is going to be best. It does, though, tend to be on the (medium) rare side.

Anyway, mine was medium rare, some nice fresh thyme and basil, and covered with a nice sprinkle of salt. I took some time to hoover this down. It was delicious.

Washed down with a very nice bottle of monastrell.

Anyway, we're back!
